Note: We have done our best to represent the rugs in these photos – the colour varies when the angle of the light changes giving them different tonal qualities throughout the day

We advise against regular vacuuming of your rug, as this can harm the fibres. When you do vacuum, always go in the direction of the pile, and we recommend using the suction hose attachment or a carpet sweeper. Avoid using a vacuum with high suction or a beater bar, as these can damage your rug. If your viscose rug has fringes or tassels, gently brush them with a broom or brush instead of vacuuming, as the vacuum could cause the fringes to detach.

It’s important to address any spills immediately to prevent permanent damage, particularly on a viscose rug. Viscose can yellow if it comes into contact with water or other liquids. Follow the steps below for the best way to handle a spill:

  • Blot the excess liquid with a clean, dry white cloth or paper towel—avoid rubbing, as it can spread the spill.
  • Mix a small amount of citric acid cleaning solution (or mix powder with cool water) and gently rub the stained area in the direction of the pile. Use only a small amount of the solution.
  • To prevent stiffness as the rug dries, spray fabric softener on the cleaned area.
  • Let the rug dry naturally, away from heat and direct sunlight, as heat can cause yellowing. For faster drying, use a hairdryer on the cool setting.
  • Once completely dry, brush your viscose rug to restore its texture.
  • Viscose is a very absorbent fibre, try to minimise amount of water used to stop a further stain appearing.
